Ford Mondeo MK3 2.0 TDDi - VP44 PSG5 injection pump

Ford Mondeo MK3 with a 115 HP engine (2.0 TDDi) was produced with a Bosch VP44 injection pump equipped with a PSG5 controller. These pumps usually last about 200,000 km - after which time professional regeneration is necessary.

At A-Core Diesel Serwis, we perform services using a Bosch EPS 715 testing table with an attachment for checking VP44 TDDi pumps. Simply replacing damaged parts without making adjustments on the table is not a good procedure - once the pump is disassembled, it cannot be screwed into exactly the same position without measuring.

All components are loose fit. After assembly, the deviations are measured using a micrometer and fed to the computer, which precisely programs the fuel dose. After regeneration on the table, the pump is ready for installation without additional coding.

Used pump or regeneration?

Many customers are tempted by the lower price of a used pump. However, please remember that the purchase cost should include:

• Coding of the VP44 Ford pump (cost of programming at the service center)
• Pump installation
• Risk of non-startup - additional maintenance costs

The total costs may reach PLN 1,000, with no guarantee that the car will start. The pump from our service center is reset to zero after regeneration - installation and self-programming without additional costs.

How to replace the Mondeo TDDi injection pump?

Replacing the VP44 pump in Mondeo MK3 is an operation requiring experience. Incorrect installation may damage the head holding the camshafts and, in extreme cases, damage the valves, cranks and pistons. We recommend entrusting this work to a professional service.
